Application Areas

Mold Walls: In the plastics and rubber industry, for compression and injection molds where the surface needs to be corrosion-resistant while the base material provides strength.

Chemical Processing: In reactors, vessels, and tanks where corrosion resistance from chemicals is required on the inside while the outer material provides structural support.

Oil and Gas: For pipelines and processing equipment that must resist corrosive substances.

Shipbuilding: In hulls and other structures where a combination of strength and resistance to corrosive marine environments is needed.

Nuclear Power Plants: In containment vessels and other structures where radiation resistance and structural integrity are critical.

Common Dimensions

The dimensions of hot-rolled three-layer steel plates can vary widely depending on the application and the manufacturer's capabilities. Common thicknesses for each layer are:

Base Layer: Usually the thickest, can range from 5 mm to several centimeters.

Intermediate Layer: Often very thin, sometimes only a few millimeters thick.

Cladding Layer: Typically thinner than the base, ranging from a couple of millimeters to a centimeter.

The width and length of the plates are often standardized to sizes such as 1.2m x 2.4m, 1.5m x 3m, or can be customized based on the requirements.

Processing Technology

Assembly: The different layers of metal are cleaned and then stacked together in the desired order.

Roll Bonding: The stacked layers are then heated and passed through a rolling mill, applying high pressure to bond the layers together.

Heat Treatment: The bonded plate may be heat-treated to relieve stresses and improve bond strength.

Cutting and Shaping: The clad plate can be cut to size and formed into the desired shape, taking care not to damage the cladding layer.

Inspection: Ultrasonic testing is often used to ensure the bond is defect-free across the entire interface of the metals.

Surface Finishing: The clad surface may be polished or treated to achieve the desired finish and properties.
